We have 3 types of volunteer groups:
- The Groene Poort Oost volunteers
- The Core Volunteers
- The DIY Team Members
1. The Groene Poort Oost volunteers
Every 4th Saturday of the month we have a DIY Day from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM where everyone from the neighbourhood (and beyond) is welcome. A DIY Day is very suitable if you want to do odd jobs every now and then or if you want to see, without obligation, how things work on such a day. During a DIY Day you can ask for information from the core team members, recognisable by their green vests. We would appreciate if you register in advance. You can register by completing the contact form below or by sending an email to info@degroenepoortoost.nl.
Would you like to receive a reminder for every DIY day? Then sign up for the mailing list. You will then receive information about the planned activities. Receiving such an email does not obligate you to anything and you can decide whether you have the time and inclination to come. Most ‘regular’ volunteers have become involved in the park in this way. Fortunately, we see a large number of them again every month. These are pleasant days where we provide plenty of tea, coffee and a shared lunch.
2. The Core Volunteers
Are you someone who enjoys outdoor activities and wants to work in the park regularly? Then register for the volunteer app. With this app, the various DIY teams inform the core volunteers about their activities. You then choose whether you want to help or not. Becoming a core volunteer is ideal for people who want to actively work for the park, but do not want or cannot commit to a specific task or a certain regularity. You can register for the volunteer app by completing the contact form below or by sending an email to info@degroenepoortoost.nl
3. The DIY team members
The third group of volunteers is willing to take responsibility and work with others to maintain a specific part of the park. These volunteers are essential to the core team and the survival of the park. We have divided the park into parts, such as the 4Ts (mound, slope, stairs and stands)*, the playing field, the natural forest and the food forest. Each part has a DIY team that takes care of the development and maintenance of that part. This is done in close collaboration with the core team and each team also includes at least one core team member.
The fun thing about being a DIY team member is that you actively think about what a part of the park looks like and how it develops. Collaboration, organisation, autonomy and team fun is what you get in return. The DIY teams regularly receive help from other volunteers during the monthly DIY Days. As a DIY team member, you let an app group know when you are going to do odd jobs, so that the core volunteers can help. View our handyman teams here. Register as a handyman team member via the contact form below or send an email to info@degroenepoortoost.nl.
*The part called the 4Ts is known by that name because the Dutch names all start with a T.
