Rob van Acker, general board member
I can look out over the football fields from my backyard and have been involved in finding a sustainable use for the place since 2018. Something that would make our neighbourhood happy. I’m proud to have been working with this enthusiastic group of people since 2021, thinking of possibilities. I think we have succeeded in creating a park that connects the different neighbourhoods and where everyone feels at home.
I like living here on the edge of the city, with a lively city and nature just around the corner. Where do neighbours meet each other though? For me, the park is a good place to get to know people from the different neighbourhoods and do things together. Over the past 3 years I have met a number of new, nice neighbours in the park. If the park actually opens soon, that will be even better.
Until the end of 2023, I was responsible for making the best possible use of the money that we raised with great difficulty as our foundation’s treasurer. Instead of buying ready-made things, you can also make it yourself. This has two advantages: you can achieve more for less money and making things yourself gives more satisfaction and connection. Now I’m a general board member and I can concentrate more on what I really enjoy as a designer: making things together. With a group of volunteers, we have already made benches, renovated a container, built the offside stand and there are still a number of manufacturing projects in the planning. I think it would be fantastic to roll up our sleeves together with an even larger group of people from the neighbourhood.
