Mindfulness summer sessions in August at De Groene Poort Oost
In August, a short series of mindfulness sessions will be offered at the Groene Poort Oost in Maastricht.
What does this series of mindfulness sessions entail?
Through mindfulness meditation, we practice being attentively present with whatever is happening at that moment, both within ourselves and outside of ourselves. This helps us better recognise our (automatic) reactions to these situations and learn that we have a choice in how we deal with them, even with matters that sometimes make life difficult.
We practice listening to our hearts and minds and how to develop a gentle and kind attitude toward ourselves and our experiences. We use exercises that shift our focus: to our breath, our bodies, our thoughts, and our feelings. There’s nothing that doesn’t belong, nothing needs to change.
Who is it for?
The sessions are open to everyone. This is an ideal introduction if you’ve never practiced mindfulness before, while if you’ve been practicing for a while, it’s a great way to maintain and deepen your practice. You can attend the entire series, or you’re welcome to join individual sessions.
By whom?
The sessions are led by Lennar Imandt. He has been offering group and individual mindfulness and ACT training in Maastricht and Belgium since 2014. He also works as an independent psychosocial therapist in his own practice at the Vrijthof and at Marly Senden’s psychology practice. He has lived at the Akersteenweg in Maastricht since 1999.
Practical info:
- Bring your own meditation mat, blanket, meditation cushion or chair
- Wear loose fitting clothing appropriate for the outside temperature
- Sessions are canceled when it rains
- There are no costs involved
